Privacy Policy

GOT Woman ("we," "us," or "our"), a program of GOT CONNECTIONS Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit gotwomen.org or take part in our programs, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

The short version: we collect only what we need to serve you, we never sell your information, we do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data at any time.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Account and membership: name, email address, phone number (optional), password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form), and your membership level.
  • Donations and payments: name, email, donation amount, frequency (one-time or monthly), and date. Card details are entered directly with Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Event registration: name, email, phone number, and any notes you choose to add.
  • Contact form: first and last name, email, subject, and your message.
  • Newsletter: email address and, if you share it, your name.

Information collected automatically

  • Basic technical data: like most websites, our hosting servers keep standard logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to keep the site secure and working.
  • Cookies: we use only essential cookies that keep you signed in and protect forms. We do not use advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies. A cookie notice appears on your first visit, and your choice is saved in your browser. You can clear it anytime in your browser settings to see the notice again.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and membership.
  • To process donations and membership payments and send receipts.
  • To register you for events and send event reminders and updates.
  • To answer messages you send us.
  • To send newsletters and a short series of welcome emails if you subscribed.
  • To keep track of our relationship with members, donors, and volunteers so we can thank you, follow up, and serve you well.
  • To meet our legal, tax, and nonprofit reporting duties.
  • To keep the website secure and improve our programs.

3. Our Service Providers

We use a small number of trusted providers who process information only on our behalf:

  • Stripe processes donations and membership payments (PCI-DSS certified). Stripe Privacy Policy
  • Our CRM provider (GoHighLevel) stores contact records for members, donors, event guests, and people who contact us. This helps our team follow up and send messages. It includes your name, email, phone (if given), tags such as "member" or "donor," and donation amounts and dates.
  • Our email delivery and website hosting providers send our emails and run the website and its secure database.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only:

  • With the service providers listed above, so they can provide their services to us.
  • Within GOT CONNECTIONS Foundation, for running our programs.
  • When required by law, court order, or to protect the safety and rights of our community.

We never share donor names or gift amounts publicly without your permission.

5. Emails and Text Messages

You can stop newsletter and welcome emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, or through our email preferences page. We may still send messages you need, such as payment receipts and event confirmations.

If you give us your mobile number and agree to texts, you can reply STOP at any time to opt out. Mobile numbers and text consent are never sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing.

6. Data Security

We protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access limited to authorized leaders. No system is 100% secure, but we take care to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.

7. How Long We Keep Information

  • Accounts: while your account is active, or until you ask us to delete it.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribing removes you from our email list.
  • Donation and payment records: at least 7 years, as required for nonprofit tax and accounting purposes.
  • Contact messages and event registrations: as long as needed to respond and run our programs.

8. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to:

  • See the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Delete your information (except records we must keep by law).
  • Stop emails or texts at any time.

To make a request, send us a message through our contact form with the subject "Privacy Request." We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days (45 days where state law allows). We will never treat you differently for exercising your rights.

U.S. state privacy rights

Some states, such as California, Colorado, Virginia, and others, give residents specific privacy rights. Many of these laws do not apply to nonprofits, but we choose to honor these rights for everyone. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of. California residents may also ask what personal information, if any, we disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing (California "Shine the Light"). We do not make such disclosures.

9. Do Not Track

We do not track you across other websites, and we do not allow third parties to do so on our site. Because of this, we treat all visitors the same whether or not their browser sends a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal.

10. Children's Privacy

Our website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Information about young women in our youth programs is collected only with a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post changes here with a new "Last updated" date and email members about important changes.
